The Wiltshire Human Givens Centre
Moving in - the story so far . . .

We moved in to the new premises in late October 2007 and got busy painting and arranging the office and therapy rooms. See the press release and also details of the launch of the Wiltshire Human Givens Centre.

Unloading the van

Unloading the vanAlan hired a van for the day and with the help of our Japanese student Keisuke we moved all the furniture for the office and therapy rooms into the new premises. Although there is plenty of parking nearby (at the railway station right next door and at "The Shires" shopping centre only 200 meters away) there is limited parking at Bridge House itself. Luckily we were able to get the van close to the side door.

Will it all fit in the lift?

Moving furnitureMost of the heavy stuff was moved to the top floor using the lift. Some of it was a tight fit! Here Keisuke is helping to move furniture. Although it looks from these photos as if Alan and Keisuke did all the work, Alec and Bindi were also involved - (honest!).

Painting in progress

Painting in progressThe top floor was originally a lovely shade of cream / orange (!) - but we needed as much light as possible for the waiting area so we decided to redecorate in white. A large part of the painting had already been completed thanks to Geraldine and Paula (of Voluntary Action West Wiltshire) but we still had some work to finish off. We managed to get most of the paint on the walls and not on the floor.

Arrival of the "comfy chairs"

Arrival of the comfy chairsIt is important that people coming to us for help are able to feel comfortable so we decided to invest in really comfortable chairs for therapy sessions. They arrived on the Friday.

Therapy rooms start to take shape

therapy roomAfter a few hectic days, things are starting to look organised. Here is the smaller of the two therapy rooms now starting to look more welcoming.

And just relax...

Therapy rooms starting to take shapeAnd here is the larger of the two therapy rooms. Unfortunately these chairs were too large to fit through the doors and we had to disassemble them in order to get them in - then reassemble them inside the room!
