The Wiltshire
Human Givens Centre
We help people who find
themselves in difficult situations
because they are (for whatever reason) unable to think
clearly or resolve their situation themselves. We are not anti-therapy,
in fact we are qualified psychotherapists,
but our approach is focused more on finding practical solutions and ways
to move forward rather than exploring the past in an attempt to understand
how you got into current difficulties. There is a place for understanding
a problem - but understanding alone does not always tell you how to move
forward. It can be blindingly obvious why you are in a mess, what is needed
is to find a way to get your life
working again. We have a lot of experience in helping people to get
what they need and we apply
our experience and training in any way which helps.

Improving emotional and mental health
|
What is it? |

|
The Wiltshire Human
Givens Centre is based in Trowbridge and provides
a single point of contact for individuals, private and public organisations
who require a rapid, effective and proven way of improving emotional and
mental health, both individually and in the workplace.
We are an outcome informed
practice - which simply means that we take steps to measure the effectiveness
of our work. |
What is alendi? |

|
alendi is a partnership between Alec
Stansfield and Bindi Gauntlett working
to improve emotional and mental health from their base at the Wiltshire
Human Givens Centre. We understand the links between physical and emotional
health and provide human givens services from individual therapy to education,
training, courses and groupwork. |
How can you help me? |

|
Human
givens therapists provide brief therapy
with the aim of helping you to feel better today. Many people
find immediate benefit from just one or two sessions and rarely need more
than five or six. We have a short
waiting list and can usually offer an appointment within 5 to 10
days. We also provide training and run workshops. We are based in Trowbridge,
Wiltshire.
We can quickly help you
to:
|
|
- which might take the form of continually feeling stressed, panic attacks, fears, phobias, lack of confidence or overwhelming stress
and pressure. We teach relaxation techniques and breathing
techniques which can also help. |
|
|
- however low you feel right now, you can soon start to wake up refreshed
with a sense that life is meaningful again |
Resolve trauma |
- human givens practitioners
can treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), however
severe, effectively
and quickly |
Manage anger |
- anger disorders damage health, increase
the likelihood of an early death and cause enormous misery among relatives,
colleagues and innocent bystanders - you don't have to be so angry |
Stop addictive behaviour |
- all forms of addiction can be
overcome (alcohol, drugs, smoking, gambling, sex, TV, computer games,
shopping, eating disorders) providing the person sincerely wants to stop
the behaviour |
|
|
- many conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, asthma, irritable bowel
syndrome, chronic pain and migraine, have an emotional component. Stressful
events often trigger an outbreak because emotions affect health - and
vice versa |
Harmonise relationships |
- relationship difficulties
are often self-perpetuating because our
beliefs and reactions to one another trigger patterns of behaviour that
stop us solving them. When couples or families want to stay together,
but are having problems, the human givens approach can help |

What is the human
givens approach? |

|
The field of human
givens provides a new understanding of how to live well and
stay healthy. The human givens
approach is holistic but also has a solid foundation in science. It is
a form of psychotherapy which integrates techniques which have been scientifically
shown to be the most effective, from a wide range of "talking therapies".
We use plain English and avoid jargon and "psychobabble". You
can find out more about human givens from our "what
is Human Givens" page or from other sites via our links
page. |
