How we do it

Human Givens Institute logo
Almost everything we do is informed by the human givens approach. Simply because in our experience, it really helps! It often makes it easy to see just what works and what doesn’t - and also to understand why.
At the most basic level, this means recognising and working with the innate needs of all human beings. This includes not only our clients but the people who work here too! It also
means recognising that on a daily basis, strong emotions tend to cloud clear thinking and impair good judgement. That doesn’t mean that we are all emotionless drones who never raise a smile, it means that there is a time and place for strong emotions - and we don’t try to make key decisions if we feel highly stressed or excitable.
Everyone who works at Wiltshire Human Givens is trained in this approach and either has passed the diploma in human givens or is working towards it.
The organisation which regulates our profession is the Human Givens Institute (HGI). It provides a complaints and ethics committee and keeps records of practitioners insurance and continuing professional development.
We also take great care to monitor the effectiveness of everything we do. We take outcome measures wherever possible and use the data to constantly improve the way we work.
